“Vodka or whiskey?”
He poured Vodka for both adding a couple cubes of ice to each glass.
“I’ll cut right to the
chase if you don't mind.” “How much time do you have Royce?”
Time enough to “get my
business in order.”
“Are you on the list?”
“I followed my doctor’s
advice and put myself on the list.” “I am also realistic about my chances
to procure one. My age and health aren’t
exactly factors of mobility on that list.”
“What would you think if
I told you that there was a different list, a short list if you will.” “A
list where eligibility is determined not by an orderly number or by a waiting
and praying game for a donor but rather dictated by their financial means.”
“Funny you mention that
as I have spent countless hours browsing various sites and reading posts and
threads only discovering that the only way to expedite the process is to go
abroad.” “An endeavor which quite frankly I'm not fond of even if it
means getting a kidney replacement sooner versus the alternative.” “I've
read about those hack jobs done at some rural farm house in the English country
side and those are the good ones.” “My largest fear quite frankly is to
get to the agreed destination and the donor backs out or they cannot get them
past the border.” “I would then be stuck in a foreign land no better than
I started and hundreds of thousands of dollars lighter.”
“Mr. Plainfield the list I am speaking of is a domestic one and the recipients are given organs from a domestic supply.” “The prices are steep but you don't wait for what you and a few selected others can immediately afford.”
“How steep?”
“For full service, which
includes the purchase of the kidney, transplant, follow up and a continual
monthly supply of autoimmune drugs to prevent rejection of your new kidney.” “The
cost is 250,000 dollars.” Plainfield didn't even blink at the price and
Royals was not surprised in the least.
“How does the list work?”
“I refer your name to a
broker.” “His list typically has about 8-10 names.” “Timing and liquidity
are key.” “You are given a burner phone for a deposit of ten grand.” “You will
receive a call and a text along with a picture of your new kidney.” “Once
contacted you have 12 hours to wire the money and another 12 to get to the
location to receive it.” “Your autoimmune meds are delivered to your door so
everything is off the grid so to speak.” “Anyone makes an inquiry about your
rejuvenated health the response is simple.” “A donor wishing to remain
anonymous came forward and offered me a new lease on life for which I will be
forever grateful.”
