The harvesting of human organs along with the illegal sale are not tales of fiction. They actually occur in our modern world. Several instances have been reported and cases even prosecuted in the United States.
My current novel "The Harvest Scar" is fiction but could very well be a reality somewhere on the planet. Many victims have been either duped out of their healthy organs or simply been murdered for them. The sale of illegal organs on the Black Market is a lucrative business. The human body along with its organs and skin could be pieced out and sold for a total of upwards of $810,000.00 US dollars.
Many countries prohibit the sale of ones kidneys for profit. This does not in any way stop medical tourism nor illegal brokers who serve this illicit market.
