The Roman Lee Series "Crimson Rows" ...... meet Jaxon Lathos CEO of Pharmaceutical Giant Asclepius

THE ROMAN LEE SERIES

"CRIMSON ROWS"

Senator Belle Thomas from Virginia had the final question before adjourning as it appeared that there were not going to be any answers to their questions.  The Fifth Amendment privilege uttered perhaps one final time before they collectively conceded as Abraham predicted.
“Mr. Lathos, how do you justify, let me rephrase, how do you sleep at night when the drugs that you produce meant to save lives are now priced beyond reach for those that need it the most.”
Smiling back with a wolfish grin.  Jaxon Lathos was going to put the entire Congress of the United States on the defensive.  He had enough of it now.  If they thought they had constituent complaints now that their collective staffs were having difficulty managing he was going to turn on the faucet full force.
“You really want to go there Madam Senator?”
“Excuse me?”
“I sleep just fine.  As you know I’ve stated before Asclepius allocates 60-70% of our profits for R & D to eliminate side effects for every drug that we purchase.  I’m sure you are aware Madam Senator that none of my competitors come remotely close to that figure.  I think they are somewhere near 10% and that is being gracious.  It explains the need for the lengthy commercials that they pay for to warn you of all the side effects associated with their drugs.”
“Still doesn’t justify the price hike of 500% in some cases more when it was affordable prior to you purchasing it.”
“Affordable to whom you say?  Well certainly those large employers who have joined you in this crusade.  They can easily pay for the drugs along with their insurance companies. Their lobby is fairly persuasive wouldn’t you agree Madam Senator?  I mean simply googling your name strikes the algorithm a certain way listing all the major contributors to your election campaign.  I don’t recall you every shying away from cashing one of their checks.”
“I’m not the one who was summoned here today Mr. Lathos.”
“True Madam Senator.  Too bad the middle class that you keep screwing year after year is busy busting their collective asses trying to earn a living while negotiating that complicated tax code that you keep building upon.  If they paid attention none of your gerrymandering would make a difference making you all one termers.  Each of you have enough skeletons in your closets paired with scandals that could fuel a Netflix series for decades.”
